There’s Beauty in Pruning

Recently, God has gently reminded me to surrender to Him. All of me, my thoughts, my dreams, my family, my friends, etc. I can’t do it on my own strength and there is so much freedom in that. I need Him everyday. To renew my mind, to encourage me, to counsel me, to prune me.

I love plants, just come to my house and find out. They bring so much life, beauty, and color to a space. I love watching them grow. But oftentimes, pruning is a part of the process. I have to prune them to allow for new growth. I cut off what’s dead to allow for the new.

When I’m tending to my plants, I’m often reminded that God is the master gardener. He is the creator of the universe and everything in it. Including you and me. He takes care of me, waters me when I’m thirsty, bathes me in sunshine, showers me with mercy, loves me unconditionally, and yes, prunes me. Even though His pruning causes discomfort in the moment, I must remove what’s dead to make room for new growth.

We must stay connected to the vine and abide in Him. Allow Him to prune you. To remove the things that are dead. Yes, it may hurt for a season but you will reap a harvest of righteousness. With all that being said, I have to water my plants now. Bye!
